U.S., UN Officials Scrutinize Rwanda’s Role in the Congo

Since spring, hundreds of thousands of Congolese have been displaced and rendered homeless by a Rwandan-backed rebel movement in the east of our country. A United Nations Group of Experts report says Rwanda is training, arming and financing rebels that have destabilized the east of the Congo.

The conflict in the Congo will be on center stage in the UN General Assembly today, Sept. 27, with Ban Ki-moon hosting a meeting between Congolese President Joseph Kabila, Rwandan President Paul Kagame, and other world leaders.
